Position Summary

The project coordinator leads the planning (including budgeting), implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the family strengthening project activities, in accordance with the organization’s policies, strategies, and available resources to improve learning outcome and completion rates, provide quality education for targeted children, strengthen operational partnership and networking of social support structures

The Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of family and community development project focused on breaking vicious circles of GBV and gender inequality. This role involves working closely with community members, local partners, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery of project activities that support family wellbeing, social inclusion, education, economic empowerment, and community resilience.

Your role?

The project coordinator leads the planning (including budgeting), implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the family strengthening project activities, in accordance with the organization’s policies, strategies, and available resources to improve learning outcome and completion rates, provide quality education for targeted children, strengthen operational partnership and networking of social support structures

The Project Coordinator will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of family and community development project focused on breaking vicious circles of GBV and gender inequality. This role involves working closely with community members, local partners, and internal teams to ensure effective delivery of project activities that support family wellbeing, social inclusion, education, economic empowerment, and community resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Coordination

  • Assist in the design and planning of family and community development projects.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Lead initial assessment, core assessment, and family development plan
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that project activities align with organizational goals and donor requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all project documentation and prioritize data quality

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for community partners, beneficiaries, and collaborators.
  • Facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and other participatory activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate project goals, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Support the development and implementation of M&E plans and tools.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on project indicators.
  • Identify and document lessons learned, best practices, and areas for improvement.

Capacity Building & Training

  • Organize and facilitate workshops, trainings, and educational sessions for community members and partners.
  • Support the development of training materials and resources tailored to family and community

Budget & Resource Management

  • Assist in preparing project budgets and tracking expenditures.
  • Ensure that resources are used efficiently and according to project guidelines.

Safeguarding (child, young people, adult and asset)

    • Ensure gender and disability mainstreaming within the overall MEAL system and during the project and program cycle management.
    • Ensure that safeguarding and child protection mainstreaming are integrated into all MEAL frameworks through measurable output and outcome indicators.
    • Ensure that safeguarding measures are in place within area his/her responsibility and that staff, associates and other key stakeholders are aware of safeguarding principles and measures.
    • Ensure and support the process of mainstreaming and integrating safeguarding in all MERA frameworks through measurable output and outcome indicators;
    • Lead /Support the process of piloting and scaling up local-level beneficiary complaints’ mechanisms concerning co-workers‘ conduct, with an emphasis on the safeguarding policies and measures to prevent sexual exploitation of women and children;
    • Responsible for reporting any safeguarding suspicion, concern, allegation, or incident immediately, following the safeguarding reporting procedures. Safeguarding reports should be made to the safeguarding team at the program level and/or to the respective line manager; and
    • Responsible for ensuring behaviours and all relationships are based on safeguarding and in line with the Code of Conduct and adhering to it in every situation.
    • Conduct themselves per the Code of Conduct, Safeguarding and Local/Country Policies and Procedures;
    • Be vigilant about any possible form of abuse/harm, neglect, harassment, or exploitation against, children, youth and adults in personal and professional lives;
    • Report any safeguarding incident or concern within 24 hours to the Incident Management Team, focal person or concerned party through the defined channels for reporting the allegation

    Must Criteria

    • Degree or equivalent qualification in social sciences, development studies, community development
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in community development out of which 2 years on supervisory level.

    Desired

    • MA in Community Development, Project Management or related field
    • Experience coordinating community-based or family-focused development projects and in advocacy of gender equality and child protection
    • Proven experience in working with diverse communities, especially marginalized or vulnerable groups.
    • Strong understanding of issues affecting families and communities, including gender, education, health, child protection, and livelihoods.
    • Proven experience in working with diverse communities, especially marginalized or vulnerable groups.
    • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
    • Experience with monitoring and evaluation processes.

    Technical Competencies – Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • Understanding of child rights issues: knowledge in the area of child rights, child protection, child development and family & community development; knowledge of relevant local and national laws, regulations and protocols.
    • People development: facilitation skills to build the capacities of families, children and partner organisations.
    • Leadership: able to build effective teams, motivate high performance, and generate commitment to the programme goals.
    • Communication & networking skills: ability to foster effective relationships with the key stakeholders of the programme including the local authorities, community leadership, partner organizations and participating families. Ability to represent the organization externally.
    • Collaboration: driven to work with others, able to build partnerships and networks internally and externally.
    • Functional skills: financial management, HR management, project cycle management
    • Driving License.
