Job Description:
The Project Officer – Gender and Child Officer is responsible for:
- Integrated planning, implementing, and monitoring of the WVE project ‘Empowering faith leaders in the prevention of FGM’
- Mobilizing, catalyzing, and equipping faith leaders and their communities
- Addressing interconnected issues of harmful gender norms, FGM, Child Marriage, and gender-based violence
- Promoting the dignity, rights, and well-being of women, girls, and children
- Supporting case management through strengthening system collaboration
Work Location:
- Afar Region, Dubti Woreda
- Somali Region, Harorys Woreda
Program Implementation & Facilitation:
- Facilitating high-quality CoH Catalyzing and Strategizing Workshops
- Guiding participants through a transformative process
- Creating a safe, respectful, and participatory learning environment
- Facilitating self-audit processes for faith communities
- Providing ongoing follow-up, coaching, and technical support
- Facilitating capacity building training for government sectors and stakeholders
- Organizing large workshops and advocacy events
Partnership, Advocacy & System Strengthening:
- Identifying and maintaining strategic partnerships with local faith institutions
- Ensuring effective links to formal protection services
- Advocating with faith leaders against harmful practices
- Engaging in regional alliances to end child marriage and FGM
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:
- Providing regular updates to CPP coordinator and HO technical team
- Tracking progress and competency development of faith communities
- Collecting and documenting stories of change and best practices
- Preparing timely and accurate activity and outcome reports
- Ensuring application of standards for the protection of children and women
Required Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as social work, sociology, or gender studies
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in integrated programming related to gender equality and child protection
- Proven expertise in facilitating participatory workshops

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem-solving
- Ability to facilitate constructive theological dialogue
Required Language(s):
Effective in written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of local language is advantageous.
