The Crisis Response team has been responding to the humanitarian emergency in Tigray, Amhara, Afar, and Somali Regions through an integrated Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection project to meet the critical needs of the conflict-affected population. FHI 360 aims to expand its reach to the Oromia Region in Negele East Borena, Ethiopia, to provide humanitarian response to the affected population and will be implementing the program with the Ethiopia-based national organization, Pastoralist Concern (PC).
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Health & Nutrition Coordinator, the Health and Nutrition Team Leader will:
- Lead the health and nutrition program activities implementation in Afdher and Liben Zone of Somali Region and East Borena of Oromia Region, Ethiopia.
- Manage and define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project’s life cycle.
- Create work plans based on the goals of the project and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Collaborate with other sectors to create integrated work plans and budgets essential for project success.
- Ensure activities align with FHI 360 guidelines and RHB protocols.
Accountabilities
The Health and Nutrition Team Leader will be responsible for:
- Overall implementation of the health and nutrition component of a humanitarian program.
- Organizing and overseeing medical outreach activities.
- Leading assessments and defining FHI 360 operation locations.
- Monitoring progress on health and nutrition-related activities.
- Conducting health and nutrition-related assessments and providing technical guidance.
- Developing partnerships and ensuring effective coordination with local service providers.
- Managing health and nutrition program budget and staffing needs.
- Assisting with resource mobilization by designing and reviewing proposals.
Applied Knowledge & Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Timely technical support for field projects.
- Strong knowledge and skills in a specific technical area/function.
- Ability to manage projects and set realistic priorities.
- Proficient writing and verbal communication skills.
- Relevant computer software skills, including MS Office.
- Fluency in English and the host country language.
Problem Solving & Impact
The candidate should demonstrate:
- Ability to assess needs and determine the best course of action.
- Knowledge of technical areas to solve a range of problems.
- Capability to develop solutions to complex problems.
- Understanding of the impact of decisions on workflow and project processes.
Supervision Given/Received
The role may involve:
- Supervising junior staff members.
- Coordinating workflow and setting individual priorities.
- Mentoring less experienced technical staff.
Job Requirement
Education
Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent in a relevant field. Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
Experience
Candidates should have:
- Over 6+ years of relevant experience in technical implementation.
- Documented experience in technical assistance and capacity building.
- Prior work experience in an NGO, government agency, or private organization.
- Experience in managing public health initiatives.
- Knowledge of OFDA, BHA, and UN donors.
