Job Summary
The Import–Export Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating all import and export activities of the company, ensuring compliance with Ethiopian laws, banking procedures, customs regulations, and international trade requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle import and export documentation (Proforma Invoice, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/AWB, COO, etc.)
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs agents
- Process bank transactions related to import/export (LC, TT, CAD, advance payments)
- Follow up on customs clearance procedures and ensure timely delivery of goods
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian Customs Commission, NBE, and other regulatory bodies
- Prepare import/export cost analysis and reports
- Monitor shipment schedules and resolve delays or discrepancies
- Maintain accurate records of all import and export transactions
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Management, or related fields
- Minimum 1–3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian import–export procedures and Incoterms
- Familiarity with banks, customs, and shipping processes
- Good communication skills in English (knowledge of Amharic is mandatory)
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
