Job Summary
On behalf of our client, We are seeking a motivated Junior R&D Associate with exposure to construction chemical manufacturing to support product innovation and improvement. You will assist in developing new formulations, optimizing existing products, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role combines laboratory work, market research, and cross-functional collaboration to meet the needs of construction industry clients.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include:
- Product Development & Research:
- Assist in formulating and testing construction chemical products.
- Conduct lab experiments to improve product performance, durability, and cost-efficiency.
- Research raw materials, suppliers, and manufacturing processes relevant to our chemical factory.
- Document experiments, analyze data, and prepare technical reports for senior staff.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Support quality control testing of raw materials and finished products to meet ASTM/ISO standards.
- Help implement health, safety, and environmental protocols in R&D and production processes.
- Market & Customer Collaboration:
- Gather feedback from contractors, engineers, and clients to align R&D with market needs.
- Assist in product trials at construction sites and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Work with outsourced consultants to consolidate data and source raw materials and other needed machinery.
- Project Support:
- Work with the R&D team to manage timelines and budgets for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Operations to ensure smooth product launches.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on trends in construction materials and hygiene chemicals, sustainable practices, and competitor products.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance product performance or reduce costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in R&D, preferably in chemicals or related industries.
- Lab experience with material testing, formulation, or quality control is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of chemical applications.
- Familiarity with testing equipment, basic chemical compositions, and data analysis tools.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and teamwork orientation.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
