The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) aims to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty through livestock research. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, ILRI operates in various regions across Africa and Asia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding: Conduct induction conversations for Internationally Recruited Staff regarding liaison and protocol requirements.
  • Account Management: Administer ILRI's Integrated Protocol Management Information System (IPMIS), maintaining staff records and processing diplomatic identity cards.
  • Permit Processing: Guide staff on work permit exemptions and process necessary permits through government channels.
  • Relationship Management: Foster connections with Kenyan government departments and diplomatic missions for efficient service delivery.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Stay updated on immigration requirements for students and fellows, advising on necessary adjustments.
  • Application Monitoring: Track status of student permit applications and provide updates to staff.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate databases and organize files for efficient access.
  • Process Monitoring: Oversee liaison and protocol unit processes and collaborate with ICT for improvements.
  • Visa Guidance: Provide visa information and process necessary documentation for staff travel.
  • Protocol Support: Assist with airport protocol for VIPs during high-level events.
  • Budget Management: Help prepare and monitor the budget for the unit.
  • Deputy Role: Cover for the Liaison and Protocol Associate during absences.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience.
  • Certification in a relevant field.
  • Experience in diplomatic privileges and student permits in international settings.
  • Knowledge of diplomatic protocols and immigration regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and networking skills.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional service.

Terms of Appointment: This is a 3-year renewable contract, open only to Kenyan nationals, with a competitive salary and benefits package.
