Key Responsibilites
The consultant will design and facilitate training modules covering the following thematic areas:
- Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), HACCP, GMP, and GHP.
- Quality assurance and process control in flour milling.
- Fortified whole grain processing and quality standards.
- Milling equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Sorghum milling technology and product development.
- Warehouse and inventory management.
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
- Business management and financial record keeping.
- Regulatory compliance, certification, and audit preparedness.
- Business continuity planning and risk management.
- Leadership and human resource management.
- Energy efficiency and production optimization.
Deliverables
- A comprehensive training manual tailored to the needs of millers and stakeholders.
- Delivery of training sessions in agreed locations within the project area.
- Submission of a final report summarizing training activities, participant feedback, and recommendations for sustainability.
Requirments
- Master’s degree or higher in Food Science and Technology, Food Process Engineering, Food Science and Nutrition, Postharvest Technology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in grain postharvest management, food processing, or food safety and quality management.
- Demonstrated experience in whole grain fortification, including training delivery and development of technical training materials/manuals.
Required Skills
- Strong technical knowledge in food safety, grain processing, and fortification.
- Proven ability to design and develop training manuals and technical materials.
- Fluency in Tigrigna (spoken and written) to ensure effective communication with millers and local stakeholders.
- Excellent facilitation and training delivery skills with experience engaging adult learners.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills to document training outcomes and recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for manual preparation and reporting.
