Job Summary
The logistic assistant plays a vital role in ensuring accurate, clear, and culturally appropriate communication between HALO’s Management Team, staff, local communities, authorities, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials, tools, and consumables for HALO Afar Office.
- Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate version of the programme Logistic Database.
- Overseeing the management and archiving of all logistics store files.
- Creating and managing a monthly Store Check planner.
- Conducting or coordinating 100% checks of all HALO stores.
- Processing and archiving all purchase documents for procured items.
- Advising the Office Manager on programme resupply areas.
- Receiving, documenting, and registering new equipment arrivals.
- Creating a simple monthly logistics report detailing stock levels.
- Maintaining an updated and accurate capital equipment list.
- Managing the write-off of broken equipment.
- Supporting the preparation of purchase requests and market assessments.
- Ensuring Afar field office stores are clean and structurally sound.
- Conducting assessments of location logistical systems.
- Ensuring compliance with HALO Ethiopia SOPs.
- Managing daily fleet planning and monitoring of vehicle movements.
- Supporting vehicle inspection and service schedules.
- Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification
- A university degree in accounting, finance, business management, supply management, or another relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in logistic management or a related field.
Required Skills:
- Professional experience in logistic management.
- Experience with MS Office applications, specifically MS Excel.
- Excellent command of the Afar and Amharic languages.
- Basic knowledge of English is desirable.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Highly motivated and committed.
- Willingness to travel to remote areas and work flexibly.
- Attention to detail.
General Duties for All HALO Staff:

- Work towards achieving programme and/or group business plan objectives.
- Familiarize with and adhere to all HALO policies and procedures.
- Travel to field trips as required.
- Discharge duties under HALO’s Health and Safety Procedures.
