Mechanic

Job Summary

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Mechanic is responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, periodic servicing, repair, and inspection of company-owned delivery vehicles, including both Feed and DOC delivery vehicles. The role ensures that all vehicles are maintained in safe, reliable, and efficient operating condition while minimizing downtime and supporting uninterrupted logistics operations.

Education

• Diploma in Auto Mechanics or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of direct experience as an Auto Mechanic or in a related automotive maintenance role.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine problems on company vehicles and perform necessary repairs.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, brake replacement, fluid replacement, and system inspections.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and maintenance history for each vehicle.
• Coordinate with the Fleet Management Officer to order spare parts and maintenance materials.
• Record all parts used, fluids replaced, labor time, and repair activities for each vehicle.
• Work with assistant mechanics to diagnose and repair engine, mechanical, and electrical components.
• Conduct test drives, inspections, and diagnostic tests to identify vehicle faults.
• Repair or replace damaged, worn, or malfunctioning vehicle components.
• Inspect all critical vehicle systems before vehicles leave the hatchery compound.
• Repair vehicle body damage and perform basic washing and painting of vehicle exteriors when required.
• Prepare repair timelines, maintenance schedules, and cost estimates for fleet management.
• Inspect vehicle systems to ensure compliance with company operational and safety requirements.
• Maintain complete records of vehicles, spare parts, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
• Schedule future preventive maintenance and advise drivers on proper vehicle operation and care.
• Use workshop tools and equipment safely and perform routine maintenance on workshop equipment.
• Continuously update technical knowledge through training and professional development.
• Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical, and engine systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair automotive faults accurately.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and vehicle servicing.
• Experience using automotive diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
• Ability to prepare maintenance reports and repair documentation.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle body repair and painting is an advantage.
