Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine diagnostic tests to support clinical decision-making. The role ensures accurate sample handling, testing, reporting, and adherence to quality and safety standards in a small outpatient laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Collect, label, and process patient specimens accurately
- Perform routine laboratory tests as required by clinic services
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment
- Ensure quality control and proper documentation of results
- Report test results promptly to clinicians
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and infection control in the laboratory
- Manage laboratory supplies and notify management of shortages
- Adhere to laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures
Required Qualifications
- BSC degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Valid professional license or certification, where applicable
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience preferred
- Experience in a clinical or outpatient laboratory setting is an advantage
