Kegna Beverages Share Company is the company which is under formation and working hard to engross in the Beverage Industry of Ethiopia that is incredibly untapped yet and fast growing.
The Company, officially endorsed on 04 March 2017 by the recommendation and promoter Committee selection of the Public Private Partnership Council of the Oromia Regional State. The promoter committee has been in contact since then frequently on the formal establishment of Kegna Beverages and on fulfilling local legal requirements of company formation, finalizing multiple discipline viability tests and studies and ground preparation for the official launching and foreign direct investment search, and approaches.
Kegna Beverages Share Company officially launched on 01 April 2017 at the Oromo Cultural Center at the Presence of higher Oromia Regional State Officials, Bank Representatives, Local Investors, invited Foreign Investors, Invited guests and Medias. The multiple studies which are mostly finalized as of now (Feasibility Study, Civil and Construction works assessment, Geotechnical, hydrology and topography analysis) on the primarily selected site of the production are finalized and ready to show the picture of the investment as of now.

Role Description
The Microbiologist is responsible for performing microbiological analyses, monitoring critical control points, and ensuring hygienic standards in the brewery. The role includes testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to maintain quality and safety.

Responsibilities
- Perform routine microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples (wort, fermentation, green beer), and finished products (bottled and keg beer).
- Analyze wort, water, and fermentation samples as per the control schedule.
- Conduct microbiological tests on packaging materials (e.g., crown corks, bottles), washed bottles, and kegs.
- Perform microbial analysis at critical points, including filtration, BBTs, pasteurizers, and packaging lines.
- Monitor yeast health and performance, including viability, vitality, and contamination checks.
- Participate in yeast propagation as per brewing demand and schedules.
- Refresh and manage yeast stock cultures, monitoring temperature, storage conditions, and quality.
- Analyze yeast handling processes to ensure optimal fermentation performance.
- Conduct environmental monitoring, including air, water, and surface analysis in the production areas.
- Inspect equipment and facilities for compliance with hygiene standards and GMP practices.
- Perform and oversee CIP (Clean-In-Place) processes for brewing and packaging equipment, including tanks, lines, and propagators.
- Record and maintain microbiological results in logbooks and digital systems.
- Provide timely summaries, trend analyses, and recommendations for quality improvements.
- Notify supervisors of any out-of-specification results for immediate action.
- Prepare culture media, reagents, and chemicals for microbiological activities.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment and maintain aseptic conditions.
- Keep instruments calibrated, clean, and documented as per SOPs.
- Ensure the lab environment meet cleanliness standards at all times.
- Ensure compliance with microbiological standards, EBC procedures, and internal SOPs.
- Participate in developing and updating microbiological manuals, standards, and SOPs.
- Support audits and inspections, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product stability, flavor, and shelf life.
- Support process optimization trials from a microbiological perspective.
- Participate in action plan teams for resolving quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Adhere to 5S principles, PPE standards, and safe working procedures.
- Communicate microbiological results and quality information effectively across departments.
- Avoid sharing out-of-specification results externally and escalate to the Quality Manager.
- Perform other duties as needed upon request by immediate supervisor.
Education
- MSC/BSC in Biology/ Microbiology/Food Science or related fields
