Responsibilities

The purpose of the position is to provide day-to-day monitoring and evaluation support to the Area programme.

Generic Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, operational handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated Core Competence project portfolio according to the plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing and management of project documents.
  • Ensure that projects target the most in-need population and explore new ways of providing assistance.
  • Promote and share ideas for programming improvement.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Work closely with core competencies, mainly with WASH and SIP/Protection teams to manage information for MEAL-related reports.
  • Conduct and support frequent surveys for monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Engage in the preparation of project evaluations and draft appropriate reports.
  • Responsible for the establishment and management of a database and monitoring system.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to program staff in project documentation.
  • Responsible for data analysis and compilation of program data and reports.
  • Maintain and update the country programme MEAL database.
  • Support in the development of MEAL tools as required.
  • Support collection and maintenance of geographic baseline and thematic data.
  • Research and retrieve data from internal and external sources; prepare statistical charts and reports.
  • Responsible for production of maps and other geographic information in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Liaise with United Nations agencies and other humanitarian partners to ensure information is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the Monitoring & Evaluation field in a humanitarian context.
  • Experience with principles and approaches to monitoring and evaluation in emergency response.
  • Previous experience in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Context/Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Knowledge of the humanitarian context in the Somali Region is required.
  • Data collection and analytical skills.
  • Good use of Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
