Summary of the Position
Under the supervision of the senior pharmaceutical officer, the pharmacy assistant will support health and nutrition programming in the Shire field office. Responsibilities include:
- Managing the pharmaceutical warehouse
- Carrying out daily activities in pharmaceutical/medical warehouses
- Receiving pharmaceuticals and storing them according to guidelines
- Issuing to health facilities and following proper utilization
- Maintaining records of receiving, storing, and dispatching medical items
- Traveling to health facilities for supportive supervision
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage pharmaceutical warehouse
- Maintain good conditions of the medical warehouse (temperature control, organization, hygiene)
- Guarantee proper management of the cold chain
- Ensure correct handling of expired and/or damaged pharmaceutical products
- Keep records of serious untoward incidents (e.g., drug errors, poor quality)
- Ensure appropriate preparation and distribution of medical supplies requests
- Maintain records for drug consumption and stocks
- Provide regular updates on inventory of medical products
- Develop stock level alerts based on average monthly consumption
- Update pharmacy files timely and prepare monthly reports
- Liaise with the Logistics department regarding drug orders and distribution
- Follow established departmental policies and safety standards
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Associate degree in pharmacy
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a pharmacist
- Experience with donor-funded programs, especially USAID/BHA
- Current, active professional registration as a licensed pharmacist in Ethiopia
- Ability to work in challenging environments
