The role holder is responsible for strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers and managing Sanku Fortification Ethiopia PLC’s purchasing of products and services. S/he is also responsible for cutting procurement expenses, ensuring quality control, and adhering to the Sanku Fortification Ethiopia PLC’s policies and procedures also plays a key role in the tendering processes and other procurement and evaluation processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement of local raw materials, packaging, and operational supplies by identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely availability.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure reliable sources, negotiate favorable terms, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian procurement laws and industry regulations, staying updated on tax policies, requirements, and legal frameworks.
  • Manage tenders, contract negotiations, and supplier performance to ensure cost-effectiveness, transparency, and adherence to agreed terms.
  • Collaborate with finance, logistics, and production teams to align procurement with business needs, ensuring smooth payment processing, inventory flow, and timely deliveries.
  • Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain risks to anticipate challenges and optimize procurement decisions.
  • Support strategic projects, including factory set-up and infrastructure improvements, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized procurement documentation and reporting, ensuring proper record-keeping of contracts, supplier evaluations, purchase orders, and spending analysis.
  • Provide procurement insights to senior management by analyzing data, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and recommending process improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall efficiency of the procurement function.

  • Ability to take account of internal clients and the Sanku Fortification Ethiopia PLC’s mission and objectives.
  • Ability to set realistic objectives in the strategic plan and annual procurement plans of the company.
  • Ability to react to changes in the Procurement Act and Regulations by implementing sound ideas and decisions in response to these changes.
  • Ability to suggest changes in the Procurement Unit that maintain the profitability of the business.
  • Is always approachable for advice and provides feedback to staff.
  • Ability to run Tender meetings and produce well-composed minutes, letters, and reports.
  • Ability to interpret the Procurement Act and its Regulations and implement them within Sanku Fortification Ethiopia PLC’s strategic plan.
  • Ability to manage assigned contracts, taking responsibility for quality assurance, service levels initiating, and taking corrective action as required.
  • Knowledge of best practices in Procurement.
  • Drive to consistently display a high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Amharic.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver excellent results while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A demonstrated passion for Sanku Fortification Ethiopia PLC’s mission.

Educational Qualifications and Work Experience

  • 5+ years of practical experience in a recognized organization.
  • Proven experience managing supply chain operations would be an added advantage.
  • Experience using supply chain management software and tools is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Materials Management, Business Administration, or any other related field.
  • Must possess a recognized professional qualification such as CPSP.
