The opportunity
Plan International Ethiopia is looking for experienced Project Coordinators to be based in the Afar Program Area- Samara- to coordinate the “Countering Harmful Practices F4B Project”.
The Project Coordinator will provide overall regional-level coordination for the Countering Harmful Practices F4B Project (2026–2030), funded by the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA). This project aims to strengthen local civil society organizations to prevent and respond to harmful practices, including Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM), Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), teenage pregnancy, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Afar regions.
The Project Coordinator will support the effective and timely implementation of the project at the regional level, ensuring activities are delivered smoothly, resources are used efficiently, and partnerships are well coordinated. Working under the guidance of the Project Manager, the role focuses on day-to-day coordination, monitoring, and reporting of project activities within the assigned region, in line with approved plans, budgets, donor requirements, and Plan International Ethiopia policies. The Project Coordinator will work closely with regional government bureaus, Amref Health Africa, and local implementing partners to facilitate collaboration, address implementation challenges, and support the achievement of project results. The role will contribute to promoting gender equality, disability inclusion, and climate-sensitive approaches in regional implementation.
Requirements And Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Science, Project Management, Reproductive Health, Sociology, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in regional project management, with strong sectoral expertise on SRHR, CP/GBV, and related sectors, with a good understanding of the regional context.
- Experience in budget management and monitoring.
- Experience of working on complex projects that involve diversified local implementing partners.
- Know-how of SRH and GBV strategies/policy frameworks, teenage pregnancy roadmap, child marriage, and FGM.
- Experience in planning, budget management, and delivering training.
Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Program Participant and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
