Qualifications:

  • BSc in Public Health
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years (NGO experience)

Major responsibilities of Public Health Officers include:

  • Serve as an emergency health resource person at field sites next to the Project Coordinator.
  • Consult and work with project coordinators, government health workers, and field staff in the treatment of cholera cases.
  • Provide technical support at health facilities and Cholera Treatment Centres (CTC) and Cholera Treatment Units (CTU).
  • Establish and maintain a cholera case reporting and tracking system, providing weekly updates on new cases.
  • Ensure mapping across project areas of locations with high/medium/low risk of cholera.
  • Ensure rapid response to new cases of cholera by applying established cholera reduction activities.
  • Analyze and improve response activities in collaboration with the supervisor.
  • Engage field staff in all aspects of the cholera response and provide refresher training as necessary.
  • Adapt the program to new locations and approaches, emphasizing hygiene promotion and communication.
  • Ensure strong communication and coordination with all project partners to achieve program objectives.
  • Coordinate the development of donor reports, M&E plans, and work plans.
  • Help plan and coordinate quarterly and final project evaluations with the project team and partners.
  • Support facilitation of review meetings to identify project gaps and successes.
  • Create smooth relations and collaboration with government stakeholders.
  • Participate in joint supportive supervision with key health partners at zonal and woreda levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
