Job Description
A Sales Manager analyzes local market trends and competitor activity to recommend strategies that keep the hotel a leader in the marketplace through the development of future and repeat business.
Duties
As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Analyze local market trends and competitor activity to identify business leads.
- Develop customer accounts and travel within the local area to drive business into the specific hotel/cluster and to increase market/customer share in all revenue streams.
- Negotiate room rates/packages with corporate clients.
- Develop and implement creative local marketing channels, including social media channels.
- Prepare company contracts for the hotel in accordance with current business and pricing conditions.
- Work within current business strategies and recognize potential opportunities.
- Cooperate with other departments in the hotel to create an exceptional guest experience and build strong, comprehensive sales programs.
- Attend sales events, as required.
- Produce accurate and timely reports that meet the needs of the Sales Director and senior management, including reporting of appointments, calls made, and business leads.
- Answer customer queries in a prompt and professional manner.
- Manage staff performance in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Recruit, manage, train, and develop the sales team.
Qualification
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven sales experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role, preferably in the hospitality or service industry.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, team management, and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite; experience with CRM software and sales reporting tools is an asset.
- Personal Attributes: Results-driven, self-motivated, adaptable, and customer-focused with a strong sense of integrity.
- Languages: Proficiency in English (both spoken and written); knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
