ABOUT KURMUK GOLD MINE PLC (KGM)
Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with mining operations in multiple countries including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d'Ivoire. KGM holds a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three Exploration Licenses for its Ethiopian project. These licenses are located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, in the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently engaged in both mine development and exploration activities at the site.
Job Summary
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible to control and verify financial transactions, reconcile account balances maintain general ledger and prepare month-end close procedures, and produce financial reports while keeping compliance with the IFRS and accounting and financial policies and procedures of the company.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- It is strongly preferred that applicants have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills in international companies’ context.
- Proficient in usage of Oracle, Excel, and other MS Office applications.
- Assist the finance head in making sound financial decisions by providing up-to-date and accurate financial records upon request and relating pertinent information.
- Responsible for month-end close and accounting activities including but not limited to amortization, depreciation, Accruals, reclass, provisions etc.
- Assists with the quarterly and annual financial statement audits, liaising with local and International Auditors.
- Involve in reviewing, tracking, and maintaining information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy of AP, tax, and other accounting regulations.
- Strong trouble shooting skills, reconcile accounts, resolving discrepancies and the ability to interact and collaborating well with various Finance and non-Finance functions optimally.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
- Perform duties and responsibilities including but not limited to the data entry, for contacting customers regarding delinquent accounts and other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Supervise staff accountants and review applicable work like a timely review of bank reconciliations, suppliers’ statement of accounts, inter-company transactions and journal entries to meat tight deadlines.
- Prepare a variety of financial, management, and month-end-close reports, analyse journals, produce data analysis and reports, and assist with variance analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of standardized orders, receipts, and payments while assisting the staff with travel reimbursement claims.
- May assist in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report expenditures, intercompany, revenue and capitalization transactions in accordance with the company’s financial policies.
- Handling Cash Flow Projections and provide other business support as required.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- A strong academic foundation in finance and technical disciplines is essential:
- Required: BA Or master’s degree in accounting finance or relevant field a plus.
- 8+ years in financial management and accounting, preferably in a Mining or heavy industry
Skills and Knowledge
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel required.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency and hands-on experience with financial management software
required.
• Experience overseeing the annual audit.
• Superior data management and data analysis skills.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to explain financial terms in simple language.
