Job Summary
The Structural Engineer is responsible for providing structural engineering analysis, design, and technical support throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves preparing structural designs, reviewing technical documents, coordinating engineering activities, monitoring construction quality, and ensuring that all projects comply with applicable engineering standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare structural engineering designs, calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and design reports.
- Guide and supervise site engineers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure proper project implementation.
- Review project assessment reports and verify that all required quantitative and qualitative project data has been collected.
- Review technical specifications, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and engineering drawings prepared by site engineers.
- Coordinate technical revisions, modifications, and amendments with project teams.
- Monitor and follow up on the approval process for project technical documents.
- Ensure construction projects comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and engineering support during project planning and execution.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates, reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Develop construction method statements, job safety analyses, risk assessments, and temporary work procedures.
- Prepare temporary works drawings and site-related engineering designs.
- Coordinate permanent works design activities with site engineering teams.
- Prepare material requisitions, material submittals, and monitor the approval process.
- Maintain engineering records, technical documentation, and project files.
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and structural design principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Knowledge of construction methods, engineering standards, and building codes.
- Experience preparing construction method statements, risk assessments, and job safety analyses.
- Proficiency in structural engineering design software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
