Job Summary
Execute substation operations in line with corporate and regulatory standards. Maintain accurate records of events and incidents, and uphold high standards of housekeeping within the substation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate substations safely and reliably
- Execute all switching procedures as instructed by the NECC
- Professionally carry out routine switching operations under NECC guidance
- Monitor, assess, and document all substation events and incidents
- Support system frequency and stability operations as directed by the NECC
- Maintain detailed logs of system events, changes, and abnormalities
- Adhere to all applicable safety rules and conduct work within accepted safety standards
- Report fire, security, and cyber security breaches to relevant authorities and management
- Support implementation of the Load Curtailment Plan under system constraint conditions
- Participate in the development of KPIs for substation teams
- Contribute to capacity development initiatives addressing staffing gaps
- Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Environment, and Health regulations
- Maintain adherence to Electrical Safety Regulations and corporate standards
- Uphold housekeeping standards for a clean, orderly, and professional substation environment
- Assist in notifying customers about planned outages
- Minimize environmental impact through responsible handling and disposal of operational effluent
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an A1-level qualification in one of the following fields, along with relevant work experience:
- Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering
- Electrical Power Systems
- Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Technology
- Electrical Engineering
- Renewable Energy
