Job Summary
The Treasury Officer is responsible for managing treasury operations, processing investment transactions, monitoring liquidity positions, performing reconciliations, and preparing treasury-related reports. The role ensures accurate recording, monitoring, and reporting of treasury activities while maintaining compliance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
Education
- BA/MBA/MA in Accounting & Finance, Management, Business Administration, Economics, or any other related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3.5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in the banking industry is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and verify treasury transaction documents and supporting evidence before processing.
- Process Treasury bills, government bonds, and other treasury investment transactions in accordance with approved procedures.
- Perform and monitor daily reconciliation of treasury accounts, ESX settlements, and treasury investments.
- Investigate and resolve outstanding items and reconciliation differences promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of Treasury bills, investments, and other treasury-related transactions.
- Prepare maturity schedules for treasury investments and provide renewal or redemption recommendations.
- Analyze and record price trends, interest rate developments, and investment opportunities.
- Prepare allocation and impact reports for thematic bond issuance obligations.
- Prepare daily liquidity position reports and other required treasury reports.
- Ensure availability of sufficient funds to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly treasury reports.
- Coordinate with commercial banks, National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), and other stakeholders on treasury-related matters.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of treasury transactions, data, documents, and settlements.
- Provide explanations and clarifications to users regarding treasury reports and transactions.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of treasury operations, investment management, and financial markets.
- Knowledge of Treasury bills, government bonds, and investment instruments.
- Ability to perform financial reconciliation and analyze treasury transactions.
- Strong financial reporting and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of banking operations and regulatory requirements is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
