Job Description

  • Support existing health centres in planning and conducting nutrition screening activities, ensuring existence of functional referral pathways and linkages between communities and health facilities and vice versa.
  • Promote the availability of services to which beneficiaries can be referred, training of staff in nutrition screening and referral services.
  • Implement and provide technical support for TSFP (food distribution), site preparation (IDPs), and mobilization of community, and nutritional screening for refugees.
  • Coordinate with COA to ensure active case-finding and follow-up of "defaulters" within the camp blocks.
  • Direct the patients to the facility corresponding to their medical state (OTP or SC) if needed.
  • Identify those patients who need to be transferred to a higher structure and those who do not respond to the treatment.
  • Conduct clinical examinations and check that the criteria are met and that the immunization is satisfactory for children for discharge.
  • Ensure that health facilities and food distribution points are equipped with minimum supplies needed for nutrition screening activities (e.g., MUAC tapes, registration and reporting format, referral forms, guidelines, etc.) and promote and support community mobilization and sensitization activities towards the nutrition screening program.
  • Ensure linkage of OTP discharges, MAM children, and acutely malnourished individuals.
  • Ensure the TSFP is seamlessly linked with the Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) for referrals of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases.
  • Manage the product flow within the team with proper documentation and handling in collaboration with logistics; reconcile daily food consumption and document properly.
  • Check that non-medical items and supplementary supplies are in place.
  • Check the coherence of the state of the stocks with the orders.
  • Inform the line manager of low stock items and participate in elaborating the request.
  • Fulfill daily tally sheets of commodity consumption and participate in the weekly consumption report.
  • Conduct regular supportive supervision and provide technical support on Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program sites every week.
  • Ensure accurate recording of beneficiary data in registers and ration cards.
  • Conduct regular follow-up about protocols and guidelines on recording and reporting – National, RRS, UNHCR, WVE Internal & other Donors.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly statistical reports (e.g., CMAM database, WFP reports) tracking performance indicators: Cure Rate, Defaulter Rate, and Death Rate.
  • Support nutrition assessments such as SMART surveys or SENS (Standardised Expanded Nutrition Survey) common in refugee settings.
  • Ensure that data collected are complete, reliable, relevant, timely, and valid.
  • Ensure that weekly/monthly data compilation and reporting of activities for internal consumption are submitted to the coordinator.
  • Evaluate the relevance and appropriateness of the intervention in view of the evolution of the context and needs (contradictory results, nutritional value, cultural habits, etc.).
  • Ensure the integration of TSFP with CMAM programming through strengthening of psychosocial support.
  • Supervise and mentor TSFP Facilitators and COA recruited from the refugee and host communities.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of TSFP sites within the refugee camp.
  • Ensure good communication with the team, partners, and the refugee community.
  • Work in collaboration with all WVE staff and the other agencies' health structures’ staff.
  • Participate in drafting the activity reports including morbidity and mortality data.
  • Report problems encountered in the centre or within the team to the Supervisor.
  • Report problems encountered in the intervention areas and/or within the project team and report to the line manager and others concerned aiming at rectifying issues timely in an amicable manner under the spirit of teamwork and propose solutions.
  • Represent the organization in camp-level nutrition sector meetings and coordinate with WASH and Health actors to address underlying causes of malnutrition.
  • Foster an environment that reinforces values of women and men, equal access to information.
  • Provide a work environment where women and men must be evaluated and promoted based on their skills and performance.
  • Promote a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all stakeholders, particularly for children, beneficiaries, and members of staff.
  • Help to prevent any type of abuse including workplace harassment and sexual abuse and exploitation.
  • Respect beneficiaries’ women, men, children (boys and girls) regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, race, color, ancestry, national origin, age, or marital status.
  • Strong adherence to World Vision values.
  • Report SEA and strictly adhere to WVE child protection and SEA policies.

Qualifications

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum three years working experience with NGOs in CMAM program focusing on TSFP and BSFP programs.
  • Good team and humanitarian spirit.
  • Experience working in humanitarian relief specifically in refugee setup nutrition program is an asset.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and experience in nutritional program (CMAM).
  • Capacity to manage priorities, creativity, flexibility; demonstrable ability at report writing in English (fluent).
  • Local language of the refugee (asset).

Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification

BSc degree in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition, or related health field of study preferred from accredited universities or health colleges.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge, training, and experience in management of MAM and SAM with/without medical complications.
  • Demonstrated skills in CMAM program planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Experience in cascading family MUAC approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions.
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, and integrity.
  • Having a better understanding of national and global nutrition dynamics, humanitarian principles, and standards.
  • Previous experience working for an international NGO is preferable.
  • Familiarity with major donor programs - WFP.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and negotiation.
  • Good level of computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
