Kurmuk Gold Mine Plc (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp which is a global company with offices in Dubai, UAE, and Perth, Australia, and has different mine projects in Mali, cote d'Ivoire as well as Ethiopia. KGM is an Ethiopian project with a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three contiguous Exploration Licenses. All licenses are located in western Ethiopia approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa or about 90 km northwest of Assosa town in Benishangul Gumuze Regional State.

KGM has been using foreign consultants and local professional support staff to carry out all the exploration and mining activities. The company currently has created job opportunities for more than 200 Ethiopians and expects to employ 1,500 people during the construction and operation of the mining activities.

Summary

KGM would like to invite competent, energetic, and qualified applicants for the following vacancy announcement.

A brief outline of duties:

KGM looking for a qualified and experienced Procurement and Logistics Officer. The purpose of the Procurement Officer position is to coordinate and facilitate the procurement and provision of high-quality goods and services to the project.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Execute Import and export activities.
  • Receives and reviews approved Purchase Requests (PR) in accordance with the plan and budget from the technical staff of the project;
  • Collects quotations, prepares bid documents and analysis for quantity, quality, price, delivery time, etc. for all requested goods and services;
  • Prepares purchase orders and notifies selected suppliers in accordance with the procurement policy and ensures items are purchased as per the PR and specification;
  • Maintains all purchasing records for control and reference purposes.
  • Prepares monthly reports on procurement and logistics status and informs concerned sections;
  • Responds adequately and timely to audit queries;
  • Collects price data from suppliers on quarterly bases and analyses these for the purpose of reference by Management in making actual purchases as well as budgeting and updating vendor lists.
  • Makes sure that all transport services for the project are available for the project;
  • Makes sure to follow the procedure of the procurement Manual.
  • Perform other incidental duties as requested by the immediate supervisor.

Qualification/Requirement

Education:

  • B.A. degree in Business Administration, Management, or Supplies Management

Skill

  • Proven language proficiency in written and spoken Amharic and English;
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, and Excel;
  • Interpersonal communication and report writing skills;
  • Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment, and ability to work effectively with others at all levels;
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time

General

Work Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in General Services in both local and overseas procurement.

Terms of Employment: Permanent after the probation period.
