Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Ophthalmologist to join our eye care team. This role is ideal for a medical doctor with a passion for ophthalmology and a desire to gain hands-on experience in diagnosing and treating eye conditions. The candidate will assist in clinical procedures, patient evaluations, and surgical preparations while working closely with senior ophthalmologists.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors graduate in Optometry from a recognized University/educational institution, Preferably licensed by the regulatory authority.
- 0-2 years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting
- Strong interest in ophthalmology, patient care, and surgical assistance.
- Excellent diagnostic and analytical skills for evaluating eye conditions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to educate and reassure patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Patient Care:
- Conduct initial patient assessments, including medical history documentation and visual acuity tests.
- Assist senior ophthalmologists in diagnosing and managing eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disorders.
- Perform basic ophthalmic procedures under supervision, including tonometry, slit-lamp examination, and funduscopy.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, post-operative care, and preventive eye health measures.
- Monitor and follow up on patients' progress and treatment effectiveness.
Surgical Assistance:
- Prepare surgical equipment and materials for ophthalmic procedures.
- Assist in minor surgical procedures such as injections, laser treatments, and eyelid surgeries.
- Support ophthalmologists during major eye surgeries, ensuring smooth workflow in the operating room.
- Maintain a sterile and organized surgical environment.
Technical & Administrative Duties:
- Document patient records, test results, and treatment plans accurately.
- Coordinate with nurses, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals for efficient patient management.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in ophthalmology to enhance clinical knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with medical ethics, safety regulations, and clinical protocols.
