Site Engineer on (Water Supply Project)

1. Educational Qualification

Minimum (Required):

Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in:

• Civil Engineering (most common and preferred)
• Water Resources Engineering
• Environmental Engineering
• Construction Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering

Preferred:

• Master’s Degree (MSc) in Water Supply, Hydraulics, Environmental, or Construction Management.

2. Professional Experience

• Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in construction supervision or site engineering.
• At least 3 years must be directly related to water supply systems, such as:
• Pipeline and network installation (DI, HDPE, PVC)
• Water treatment plant or reservoir construction
• Pumping stations and intake structures
• Borehole development and testing

3. Technical Skills

A highly qualified Site Engineer must be able to:

• Read and interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and specifications
• Supervise pipeline installation, civil works, and mechanical/electrical components
• Manage site schedules, quality control, and safety compliance
• Conduct site measurements, progress reports, and material approval
• Understand and apply hydraulic design principles (pressure, flow, head loss)
• Coordinate testing and commissioning of water systems

Technical Software Skills:

• AutoCAD / Civil 3D
• MS Project or Primavera (for scheduling)
• MS Excel / Word / PowerPoint (reporting)
• EPANET or Water CAD (preferred for hydraulic analysis)

4. Knowledge of Standards & Codes

Must have a good understanding of:

• Water and sanitation design/construction standards
• Local construction laws and building codes

5. Soft Skills & Attributes

• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
• Skilled in coordination between the contractor, consultant, and client
• Good report writing and record keeping
• High sense of ethics, safety, and quality
