Job Description:
The Corporate Communications Manager leads and inspires a dynamic communications team, fostering an environment where creativity flourishes and innovation is actively encouraged. Key responsibilities include:
- Driving the implementation of a donor-aligned communications strategy
- Overseeing the Annual Content Planning and Implementation process
- Guiding a diverse, high-performing team
- Collaborating closely with senior leadership and technical leads
Leadership and Team Building
- Foster a collaborative team environment
- Provide mentorship and support professional development
Capacity Building
- Support local institutions and smaller NGOs
- Enhance capabilities and ensure compliance with project standards
Resource Stewardship
Enforce accountability by ensuring:
- Efficient resource utilization
- Adherence to internal controls
- Satisfactory financial and operational audit results
Strategic Leadership and Content Planning
- Lead the development and refinement of the Annual Content Plan
- Align communications objectives with sponsor/donor needs
- Facilitate workshops and planning sessions
- Integrate feedback from StoryHub usage and metrics
Team Leadership and Culture
- Provide direct supervision to the Media and Corporate Storytelling Manager
- Champion a culture of creative experimentation
- Identify talent gaps and organize skill-building sessions
- Ensure field teams have adequate support and tools
StoryHub Management, Content Quality and Safeguarding
- Manage StoryHub assignments and workflow
- Review flagship assignments for quality and safeguarding
- Regularly audit Story Hub collections
Thought Leadership, Positioning and Partnerships
- Collaborate to identify themes for thought leadership
- Guide the creation of strategic reports and advocacy statements
- Identify opportunities for influential discussions and panels
Risk Management, Ethics and Safeguarding
- Draft communications with complex safeguarding risks
- Work closely during reputational crises
Monitoring, Reporting and Adaptation
- Collect and analyze communications metrics
- Share reporting outputs for strategic adjustments
- Implement recommendations based on data
Engagement with Local Partnerships
- Implement the Localization Roadmap
- Integrate cross-cutting themes for inclusivity
- Contribute to acquisition efforts and proposal preparation
- Capture and share innovations and change stories
Qualification
- Advanced degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Marketing, International Relations or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in multi-channel communications management
- Demonstrated team and matrix leadership
- Proven experience overseeing editorial quality
- Expertise in safeguarding and digital storytelling tools
- Strong capacity for empathy and strategic insight
Required Language(s)
Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Amharic. Other local languages valued.
