Sr. Accountant

Job Overview

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting with hands-on experience in the import and export sector. This role requires someone who can:

• Manage financial records with accuracy
• Ensure compliance with regulations
• Provide valuable insights to support business decisions

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Oversee tax returns, VAT, withholding, and other statutory obligations.
• Ensure compliance with local financial laws and international accounting standards.
• Support external audits and prepare necessary documentation.
• Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for business growth.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Coordinate with banks, suppliers, and other stakeholders, especially in import/export transactions.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of collective accounting experience, preferably in import/export business 
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations.
• Excellent skills in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
