Cost And Budget Officer

Job Purpose

To manage, monitor, and control the organization's budget and cost performance. The Cost and Budget Officer ensures that spending is aligned with approved plans, analyzes financial data, prepares reports, and supports strategic decision-making by providing cost and budget forecasts.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of annual and project-based budgets.
• Consolidate departmental budgets and align with organizational goals.
• Monitor actual spending against budget and report variances.
• Analyze costs across departments and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Track direct and indirect costs and support pricing decisions.
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis for proposed expenditures or investments.
• Prepare periodic budget performance reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
• Generate variance analysis reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Support forecasting and long-term financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulations.
• Monitor expenditures and flag over-spending or misuse of funds.
• Coordinate with department heads to understand financial needs.
• Provide training and support on budget preparation and control.
• Support internal and external audits related to budgeting and costs.
• Maintain and update budget monitoring tools and financial models.
• Use ERP or accounting software to track budgets and expenditures.

Qualifications;

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in budgeting, cost control, or financial analysis.

Skill:

• Strong knowledge of budgeting and cost control principles.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and financial management software.
• Attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
