Electrician

Job Summary

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and components to ensure safe and efficient operations. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, identifying electrical faults, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and organizational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and control systems.
• Inspect electrical systems, identify faults, and perform troubleshooting activities.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Test electrical systems and components using appropriate testing equipment.
• Replace defective electrical components and ensure proper functionality.
• Monitor the performance of electrical installations and recommend improvements where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and company procedures.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment repairs.
• Coordinate with maintenance and production teams during repair and installation activities.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

• TVET Level II Certificate or Diploma in Electricity or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 4 - 8 years of relevant work experience for TVET Level II qualification.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Experience using electrical testing and measuring instruments.
• Understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
• Basic computer skills are an advantage.
