Job Summary
People in Need is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on the ideals of humanity, freedom, equality and solidarity.
People in Need was established in 1992 by a group of Czech war correspondents, journalists and activists and has grown to become one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central and Eastern Europe.
Throughout our 30 years of existence, People in Need continues to engage in humanitarian aid, development cooperation, education and social inclusion.
We have been operating in Ethiopia since 2003, working in six regions; Oromia, South Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, Sidama, Amhara and Tigray in different multi-sectoral projects in the areas of development and emergency response.
People in Need, from the very start of its operations in Ethiopia, has focused on projects in five main areas of interest: Education, Agriculture, Climate and Environment, Water and Social Protection.
PIN currently seeks energetic, disciplined, and responsible Field Officers for the specific project entitled “Empowering Futures for Youth and Women beyond Agriculture in Oromia Region”.
Employment Information
- Position: Field Officer
- Contract Type: Definite (until November 2027)
- Place of Work: Based in Moyale, Oromia Region with frequent travel to PIN project sites in different regions as required
- Salary: 340 USD
General Description
Under the immediate supervision of the Project Coordinator (PC) and in close collaboration with the EC Project Manager (PjM) and Consortium Coordinator (CC), the Field Officer is responsible for successful implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities and outputs at field level. The role ensures achievement of project results with the required quality and within stipulated timelines while working closely with government offices, TVET institutions, administrative officials, community leaders, private sector representatives, and partner organizations.
Project Requirements
- Collaborate with the Project Coordinator in planning, needs assessment, proposal preparation, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting
- Participate in procurement processes including specification preparation and delivery inspection
- Ensure project results are achieved with quality and within deadlines
- Ensure visibility materials and events comply with donor and PIN guidelines
- Maintain smooth and professional relations with stakeholders
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans and reports on time
- Submit weekly reports every Thursday morning with completed and upcoming activities
Coordination
- Participate in and facilitate awareness raising meetings, campaigns, and community events
- Collaborate actively with other ongoing PIN project teams in operational areas
Documentation
- Maintain documentation of project activities including beneficiary lists, agreements, attendance sheets, minutes, bylaws, and supporting records
- Prepare best practices, success stories, and photo documentation of project implementation
Planning and Reporting
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans and reports
- Prepare professional reports for trainings, workshops, campaigns, exposure visits, and project events
- Plan and submit logistics and cash requirements to the Project Coordinator
Communication & Networking
- Organize and document beneficiary profiles and progress information
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders and partners at kebele, zonal, and woreda levels
- Maintain strong relationships with beneficiaries, government offices, partners, supervisors, and project teams
Material Development
- Participate in development and revision of materials and implementation guidelines
- Facilitate translation of tools and checklists into Amharic and local languages where necessary
Confidentiality
- Maintain confidentiality of organizational information
- Do not disclose organizational information to unauthorized parties including former employees
Team Building
- Build and maintain positive interpersonal and team relationships with project staff and stakeholders
Other Responsibilities
- Perform additional assignments based on mission and project needs
- Substitute Project Coordinators during absence or assignment
- Understand and comply with PIN code of conduct, policies, and donor requirements
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding and protection policies
Accountability and Safeguarding (Including Prevention of SEAH)
- Carry out duties in accordance with PIN Code of Conduct and key policies
- Participate in safeguarding and awareness trainings
- Implement safeguarding measures throughout project implementation
- Ensure partner due diligence and safeguarding assessments
- Create and maintain a safe and protective working environment

- Take responsibility for entrusted assets and resources
- Cover damages or losses caused through negligence according to policy requirements

Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong foundation in Project Management, Business Administration, or related fields
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, Economics, Marketing, or related fields is preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar NGO setting for Bachelor degree holders
- Minimum 1 year of experience for Master’s degree holders
- Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of spoken and written Amharic and English
- Provide 3 strong references (references will be crosschecked/contacted)
