Job Summary
The Cost Accountant Head is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective cost accounting system, analyzing production and operational costs, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, preparing financial and cost reports, and supporting management with reliable cost information for decision-making. The role also supports ERP implementation, month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensures the accuracy of standard costing and inventory records.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- BA/MA in Accounting and Finance or other related fields.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Cost Accountant Head.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
- Experience with ERP systems and cost accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a cost accounting system that ensures accurate costing.
- Assist in the conversion from the existing mainframe cost accounting system to ERP.
- Collect and analyze data related to the company’s operational costs.
- Set standard costs for manufactured goods.
- Develop and analyze cost standards.
- Carry out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis, including for small businesses.
- Establish costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, and other operational activities.
- Perform account reconciliations.
- Prepare audit reports and present findings to management.
- Review and analyze standard and actual costs for variances and prepare reports.
- Update standard costs and ensure accuracy in the Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Prepare, analyze, and report monthly gross margin analysis by customer, part number, and production jobs.
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine their effects on costs.
- Study and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Perform account reconciliation of physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Prepare periodic inventory reserve reconciliations, analyze inventory risks, and monitor inventory with support from internal stakeholders.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing by analyzing inventory and preparing supplemental reports as required.
