The Ethio-Djibouti Railway (EDR) was established in April 2017, based on the Bilateral Agreement signed on December 16, 2016, between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Republic of Djibouti. The Shareholders Agreement was subsequently signed on January 11, 2017, among Public Bodies and State Enterprises of the two countries, to be administered pursuant to the commercial laws of Ethiopia.

Required Qualification and Experience
- Education: Railway, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electro Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, Railway System, Industrial Engineering, General Mechanics, Automotive Technology, Electro Mechanical Technology, Machining Technology.
- Relevant Experience: No prior experience required (fresh graduates are encouraged).
- Required No: 50
- Work Place: Sebeta, Indode, Modjo, Adama, Diredawa, and Djibouti.
Additional Requirements
- Certification: For Level III, IV & V applicants, a COC (Certificate Of Competency) is mandatory.
- National ID: Valid National ID (Fayda).
- Training: There is a semi-military training program (structured & disciplined program) for one year, combining theoretical & practical training. Training location will be announced.
- Physical and Psychological Fitness: Applicants must be in good health, physically fit, and mentally prepared for rigorous training.
