Job Purpose:
The Project Officer is responsible for implementing project activities to restore landscapes and build resilience in the most vulnerable communities in the Lemo Districts in Ethiopia. Responsibilities include:
- Mobilizing the community and facilitating target selection and registration.
- Recording and keeping all necessary documents of the operations executed.
- Engaging communities in participatory planning and providing essential technical skills.
- Driving the on-the-ground implementation of project activities.
- Fostering the development of green enterprises and monitoring progress.
- Collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
Project/Program Implementation:
- Support planning and execution of project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure effective and efficient implementation of project activities, meeting deadlines.
Compliance and Administration:
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project activities.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the organization.
Technical:
- Provide hands-on technical support and facilitate capacity-building initiatives.
- Execute field-level project activities according to work plans and monitor progress.
- Identify and support opportunities for green and restoration-focused rural enterprises.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local leaders and stakeholders.
- Collect accurate field data and contribute to regular project reports.
Qualification
- MSc/BSc in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Environment, Rural Development, Agroeconomics, or related fields.
- 5 years’ experience in field-level implementation of integrated programs.
- Experience in community-led natural resource management and economic development.
- Additional experience in promotion, advocacy, and scale-up activities.
Required Travel and Work Environment Accommodations:
- Office-based with frequent travel to the field.
- Travel: 60% Domestic.
- On call and email: 40%.
