Job Purpose:

The Project Officer is responsible for implementing project activities to restore landscapes and build resilience in the most vulnerable communities in the Lemo Districts in Ethiopia. Responsibilities include:

  • Mobilizing the community and facilitating target selection and registration.
  • Recording and keeping all necessary documents of the operations executed.
  • Engaging communities in participatory planning and providing essential technical skills.
  • Driving the on-the-ground implementation of project activities.
  • Fostering the development of green enterprises and monitoring progress.
  • Collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

Project/Program Implementation:

  • Support planning and execution of project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of project activities, meeting deadlines.

Compliance and Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project activities.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the organization.

Technical:

  • Provide hands-on technical support and facilitate capacity-building initiatives.
  • Execute field-level project activities according to work plans and monitor progress.
  • Identify and support opportunities for green and restoration-focused rural enterprises.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with local leaders and stakeholders.
  • Collect accurate field data and contribute to regular project reports.

Qualification

  • MSc/BSc in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Environment, Rural Development, Agroeconomics, or related fields.
  • 5 years’ experience in field-level implementation of integrated programs.
  • Experience in community-led natural resource management and economic development.
  • Additional experience in promotion, advocacy, and scale-up activities.

Required Travel and Work Environment Accommodations:

  • Office-based with frequent travel to the field.
  • Travel: 60% Domestic.
  • On call and email: 40%.
