The Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Protection Officer - Emergency Response for our Sheraro, Tigray Office.
About the Job
The Protection Officer will be directly responsible for:
- Delivering quality protection and EORE interventions in accordance with minimum standards.
- Identifying protection risks through ProMo tools.
- Monitoring the implementation and impact of initiatives.
- Coordinating with the protection team leader, assistant, and community volunteers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Conduct protection monitoring assessments with protection assistants.
- Support protection assistants in delivering Explosive Risk Education to communities.
- Contribute to targeting, beneficiary selection, and distribution of cash and dignity kits.
- Lead the implementation of HLP information dissemination and training.
- Ensure timely referral of individuals in need of protection services.
- Adhere to ethical data collection and protection protocols.
- Follow all protection guidelines and provide feedback to the technical unit.
- Carry out additional protection activities as assigned.
Reporting and Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide regular updates on project implementation.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports on protection activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of project activities.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in humanitarian protection or relevant social service field.
- Experience in the Tigray region is strongly preferred.
- Proven record of community engagement and consultation.
- Technical understanding of core protection concepts and strategies.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Education
University degree in social work, social science, law, or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
Language Requirements
Excellent skills in speaking, reading, and writing English and Tigrigna.
