Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Protection team leader, the Protection Officer will:
- Perform day-to-day activities
- Work across various departments
- Collaborate with other Sector Specialists to oversee Protection activities
- Provide basic technical support and guidance to staff and partners in the region
Accountabilities
- Conducting robust analysis of GBV Protection constraints within the target beneficiary population
- Establishing and growing relationships with FHI 360's Protection partners in Ethiopia
- Ensuring that GBV Protection considerations are fully integrated into program design and activities
- Supporting in designing indicators for assessing progress with GBV Protection and GBV Case Management programs
- Conducting periodic GBV Protection and Case Management evaluations
- Designing and conducting training for FHI 360 staff, implementation partners, and beneficiaries
- Coordinating with a range of actors to ensure safe and confidential services for survivors of GBV
- Conducting quarterly activity review sessions with beneficiaries

- Proficiency with database management software and online search tools
- Development of scope of work and deliverables for partners
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of political, contextual, and ethical issues
- Articulate and professional communication skills
- Basic working knowledge of technical support for research studies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to analyze and interpret data
- Problem-solving skills and ability to implement corrective action
- Fluency in English

Supervision Given/Received
The Protection Officer:
- Has no supervisory responsibility
- Receives general instructions on routine work
- Typically reports to the Protection Coordinator
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in: Humanitarian Studies, Social Work, Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, Public Administration, Political Sciences, Related discipline
- 3-5 years in GBV Protection and Counseling or Gender integration
- Experience in women's rights and Gender Equality issues
- Solid understanding of safeguarding and accountability
- Fluency in local language and excellent English skills
Typical Office Environment
- Spend long hours looking at a computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Lift/move up to 5 lbs.
