We achieve this by engaging in advocacy. capacity development, and family planning initiatives, which make sure the youth of today, are empowered to lead healthy and self-determined lives.

In Ethiopia, DSW has been implementing youth-focused SRH including HIV/AIDS, Gender, Livelihood and related development programs. Currently, DSW is looking for the project entitled Expanding Access to Life-Changing Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health Care in Ethiopia (Youth for Health) a qualified young professional and experienced Advocacy Officer.

Position: Advocacy Officer

Number of positions: 1 (One)

Term of Employment: One Year with a high possibility of extension

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Salary: Negotiable based on the organization's scale

Main duties and responsibilities

  • As an advocacy officer serve as the focal point for youth for health advocacy work, including: coordinating. facilitating and supporting the implementation of the advocacy project
  • Coordinate and carry out advocacy campaigns targeting decision-makers at different levels and parliamentarians in collaboration with adolescent champions and other partners
  • Represent DSW on different advocacy events on adolescent and related issues
  • Closely work with program, communication and MELR in the designing, implementing and monitoring of advocacy projects
  • Ensure that domestic resources are mobilized and engage its partners on advocacy issues.

Required Qualification and experience

  • MA/BA in Sociology, Communication, Population Studies, Public Health, Reproductive health and other social-related fields of study
  • Good communication skills in both international and local languages
  • Actively participated and served in adolescent and youth development and SRH activities at least for more than three years
