The Area Sales Representative is responsible for the company’s sales in their allocated area. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring daily deliveries of products according to the route plan
- Managing the company’s relationships with outlets and consumers
- Collecting and managing daily and weekly sales data for individual outlets and their area as a whole
Additional Responsibilities
- Tracking competitor trade practices
- Identifying new opportunities and challenges in the area
- Reporting findings to their line manager on time, suggesting possible solutions
Purpose of Role
This role serves as the link between the company and the outlets, ensuring:
- Smooth communication and workflow between the company’s distribution network and outlets
- Inflow of customer and consumer feedback, complaints, and market dynamics
- Monitoring of competitor trade practices
Sales Responsibilities
Generate orders, maintain standards, and identify growth opportunities within the outlet dynamics to drive:
- Sales volumes
- Market share
- In-outlet execution
- Customer service excellence
Relationship Management
Closely follow up and monitor the relationship between:
- Distributor’s truck personnel and the outlets
- Any issues that might impact the relationship and experience of the outlets with the company
Promotional Activities
Identify outlets in the area for promotions based on:
- Valid and justifiable reasoning
- Coordination with the trade marketing team
- Proper placement and tracking of the company's trade assets
Area Assessment
Assess the area for opportunities by:
- Preparing and evaluating area information
- Evaluating outlet performance and needs
- Identifying area growth opportunities and trade execution gaps
- Understanding outlet business behavior in decision making
Sales Execution Planning
Plan for sales execution by developing an outlet plan that includes:
- Segmentation and prioritization of outlets
- Outlet penetration strategy
- Sales call scheduling (route plan)
- Promotion need assessment
Make consistent and periodic sales visits to outlets to:
- Check stock balance
- Assess POSM needs
- Identify growth and competitive opportunities
- Discuss issues and opportunities with the customer
Performance Measurement
Continuously follow up and measure:
- Sales volume and market share against the target
- In-trade execution progress
- POSM control and maintenance progress
Teamwork and Participation
Practice open and honest communication within the workplace with:
- Subordinates
- External parties such as distributors and their staff
- Line managers
Live up to the company values and ensure:
- Smooth handovers in any circumstances
- Participation in promotions and POSM deployment
Other Responsibilities
Complete other responsibilities as assigned by his/her Line Manager.
Note: This is a 3-month contract-based position with the possibility of extension.
Qualification
- BA Degree in sales, marketing, or any other related field from a recognized university.
- A minimum of one year of experience in sales and a related profession.
