Role Overview
The Associate Equity Trader is responsible for assisting clients in buying and selling securities in financial markets and serving our clients as needed while complying with all laws, rules, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Trading Execution and Market Operations
- Assist clients in buying and selling securities in financial markets.
- Stay updated on market trends, financial news, and economic developments.
- Receive and escalate customer trade disputes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their investment goals.
- Support the Senior Equity Trader with administrative tasks related to trading operations and maintain accurate records of transactions and client interactions.
- Work with senior leadership to develop new business opportunities for the firm.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Adhere to Ethiopian financial regulations and the guidelines set by the Capital Market Proclamation - No. 1248-2021, Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA), and Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX).
- Adhere to risk management controls to minimize trading losses and ensure ethical trading practices.
- Maintain accurate records of trades, transactions, and market movements.
New Accounts and Customer Service
- Onboard new clients while adhering to KYC, AML, and CFT rules and regulations.
- Research, resolve, and/or escalate customer complaints.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Contribute to the continuous development of trading systems, policies, and operational procedures.
- Foster a culture of discipline, integrity, accountability, and performance within the firm.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field (preferred).
- CISI Introduction to Investment (Level 3) qualification.
- Adequate knowledge and understanding of the Ethiopian financial market, investment products, trading, and investment principles.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and writing abilities.
- High motivation, resilience, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to pass relevant licensing exams.
