The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the chief executive responsible for translating the ESDROS Vision, Mission, Values, and Operational Action Plan into measurable results across education, construction/real estate, trading, and overall corporate governance to attend sustainable profitability and capital growth, in the context of Ethiopia's 2026 economic and regulatory environment, the CEO will lead the company’s transition toward Capital Market registration and institutional-grade governance, ensuring compliance with the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and modern corporate governance frameworks. The role requires a combination of commercial leadership, institutional stewardship, and financial expertise.
Responsibilities
Corporate Governance & Capital Market Compliance
- Lead the organization in line with ESDROS core values: Integrity, Accountability, High Performance, Visionary Leadership, Transparency, and Community Service
- Ensure implementation of approved policies, manuals, and governance frameworks.
- Lead alignment with ECMA regulations, Commercial Code, and corporate governance best practices.
- Ensure robust financial disclosures, internal controls, and audit-ready reporting frameworks.
- Serve as the primary executive liaison with the Board of Directors, shareholders, regulators, and auditors.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly Executive reports covering financial performance, project status, and enterprise risks.
Strategic Planning & Budgetary Control
- Develop and execute Annual Business Plans and multi-year corporate strategy across Education, Real Estate and Trading.
- Lead enterprise-wide budgeting, cost controls, and capital allocation in an inflationary macroeconomic environment.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews against KPIs and submit Board Progress Reports.
- Identify and execute new growth opportunities in educational infrastructure and other lines of business.
Educational Oversight (Nursery-High School)
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and Regional Education Bureau standards.
- Drive enrollment growth, teacher retention, academic excellence, and national examination performance.
- Oversee academic performance improvement and student outcomes across all branches.
- Supervise school administrators and ensure institutional discipline, quality assurance, and reputational integrity.
Strategic Operations & Partnerships
- Lead redesign of business processes to improve service delivery and reduce waste.
- Build high-level partnerships with the Ministry of Education, Construction Bureaus, and Financial Institutions to secure land, permits, and favorable financing.
- Promote community service, student social engagement, and institutional outreach.
- Direct the full lifecycle of construction projects from feasibility and land acquisition to turnkey delivery.
- Enforce structural, aesthetic, and spiritual identity standards in institutional buildings.
- Ensure consistent application of company brand identity.
- Ensure the use of data systems for decision-making, performance tracking, and transparency.
- Identify critical-path risks and implement contingency plans to protect project ROI and shareholder value.
Financial & Shareholders’ Value
- Manage sector-bridge cash flow strategy and lead annual budget defense and enforce rigorous variance analysis and expenditure controls.
- Ensure full IFRS compliance, financial transparency, and investor-grade financial reporting.
- Develop hedging and procurement strategies to mitigate inflation and imported material cost risks.
- Execute capital expansion strategy to increase company capital through share sales.
Human Capital & Talent Retention
- Strengthen human resource capacity to improve service quality and productivity through a performance-driven culture.
- Develop and implement talent retention and incentive frameworks for top-tier talent.
- Foster a corporate culture blending modern corporate excellence with the company core values.
- Lead succession planning for key leadership positions across all sectors.
Qualification
- Educational: MBA or MA in a relevant field
- Experience: 18 years for a second Degree or 20 years for first Degree of relevant experience out of which 12 years are in a managerial position.
Core Competencies
- Strong financial management and performance-based leadership.
- Proven ability to execute operational plans and manage KPIs.
- Knowledge of Ethiopian regulatory, financial, and institutional environments including Commercial Code, Investment Proclamations, and Tax Laws.
- Understanding on Ethiopian education policy and direction.
- Fluency in Amharic and English.
