About Us:

We are a leading real estate development company, recognized for delivering exceptional projects globally and setting new benchmarks in the industry. We are seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial operations and drive growth for our large-scale real estate ventures in Ethiopia. You will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business goals and growth targets in Ethiopia.
  • Lead long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling for large-scale real estate projects.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures from a financial perspective.

Capital Management & Fundraising

  • Design and manage capital structure to optimize liquidity and support aggressive growth.
  • Secure financing from local and international sources (banks, private equity, DFIs, capital markets).
  • Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and financial institutions.

Financial Operations & Control

  • Oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls in compliance with IFRS and Ethiopian law.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Implement robust financial systems, ERP, and digital tools to enhance efficiency and transparency.

Treasury, Risk & Compliance

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions across multiple projects and entities.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and market risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with National Bank of Ethiopia regulations, tax authorities, and corporate governance standards.

Project Financial Management

  • Oversee financial feasibility studies, project budgeting, cost control, and profitability analysis for all developments.
  • Monitor project financial performance and provide actionable insights to the CEO and project teams.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the finance, accounting, and treasury teams.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.

Group Governance & Head Office Alignment

  • Report directly to the Head Office Group CFO and maintain regular financial and performance reporting.
  • Ensure full alignment with Head Office financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting standards.
  • Implement and enforce Group-wide governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and best practices at the branch level.
  • Coordinate with Head Office on budgeting, forecasting, audits, funding, and strategic initiatives.

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification, such as ACCA, CPA, CFA, or CMA, is mandatory.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, Finance Director) within real estate, construction, or infrastructure.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, financial modelling, and managing large project finance in an emerging market context; experience in Ethiopia or East Africa is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Ethiopian financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel/financial modelling.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to present to boards and investors.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Amharic is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
