Job Summary

On behalf of our client, a leading innovation hub and entrepreneurship support organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are seeking a Communications Officer who will lead and support all digital and non-digital communication activities, public relations efforts, and content development across its programs and partnerships.

Purpose of the Position

The Communications Officer will be responsible for implementing and coordinating internal and external communication activities for our client . The role will support program visibility, partner communications, branding, media relations, and stakeholder engagement across multiple projects with local and international partners.

Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities

Communication Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and implementation of communication strategies aligned with our clients’ mission, programs, and partner requirements.
  • Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and tone across all communication materials and platforms.
  • Develop communication plans for specific projects, events, and programs in collaboration with program teams.

Digital Communications

  • Manage and regularly update digital platforms, including social media channels, website, and email communications.
  • Create engaging content (posts, captions, stories, newsletters, blogs) tailored to different audiences.
  • Monitor digital performance and provide basic analytics and insights.
  • Support online campaigns, open calls, program announcements, and partner visibility requirements.

Non-Digital Communications

  • Develop print and offline communication materials such as brochures, flyers, reports, roll-ups, banners, and presentations.
  • Support event communication including invitations, agendas, signage, and post-event documentation.
  • Coordinate visibility materials for workshops, trainings, demo days, and public events.

Content Development & Storytelling

  • Collect, document, and develop success stories, case studies, testimonials, and impact narratives from programs and beneficiaries.
  • Support the production of reports, program briefs, and donor-facing communication materials.
  • Coordinate basic photo and video documentation for events and programs.

Public Relations & Media Engagement

  • Support media outreach, press releases, and press kits.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant media outlets and communication partners.
  • Coordinate interviews, media coverage, and public announcements when required.

Partner & Donor Communications

  • Ensure communication outputs meet donor and international partner visibility and branding guidelines.
  • Support timely communication deliverables for funded projects.
  • Coordinate with partners on joint communication activities and campaigns.

Internal Communication

  • Support internal communication between teams and projects.
  • Document meetings, milestones, and program highlights when required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years and above of relevant experience in communications, preferably within commercials and/or innovation hubs
  • Experience working with international partners or donor-funded projects is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools
  • Understanding of branding, visibility, and communication guidelines
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative working style

Reporting and Coordination

The Communications Officer will report directly to the designated supervisor and work closely with program teams, partners, consultants, and management to ensure effective communication delivery across our clients' initiatives.

Performance Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated based on the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of communication outputs, adherence to brand and partner guidelines, and overall contribution to program visibility and stakeholder engagement.
