Job Description
Job Summary: The Community Development Facilitator (CDF) will be based in one of the Woredas in Ilu Abba Bor Administrative Zone and will work under the guidance of the Project Coordinator for the ECOR project. The role focuses on implementing community-level project activities, strengthening local institutions, and ensuring active participation of stakeholders in biodiversity conservation and resilient livelihood initiatives.
Purpose of the Role: The CDF is responsible for implementing ECOR project activities at the community level, working closely with communities, CBOs, and local government stakeholders, and supporting capacity-building initiatives to ensure sustainable project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement project activities at the community level in line with approved plans, timelines, and budgets
- Collaborate with project teams, government counterparts, and stakeholders to achieve project outputs
- Facilitate selection of project sites and beneficiaries in coordination with partners
- Support preparation and execution of integrated watershed development plans
- Ensure active participation of community members, including women and youth
- Conduct community meetings, dialogues, and stakeholder consultations
- Participate in assessments, surveys, monitoring, and evaluation activities
- Facilitate training, business plan development, and capacity-building initiatives for CBOs
- Provide technical support on gender mainstreaming and community development practices
- Prepare and submit timely monthly progress reports
- Support experience-sharing visits and community engagement activities
Capacity Building & Team Contribution:
- Facilitate capacity assessments of community-based organizations using standard tools
- Support implementation of capacity development plans with local stakeholders
- Actively contribute as a member of the project team and organizational initiatives
- Participate in internal meetings and strategy implementation activities
Safeguarding & Code of Conduct:
- Comply with safeguarding policies and organizational code of conduct
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment
- Report safeguarding concerns and maintain professional boundaries
- Ensure responsible use of beneficiary information and communication materials
- Participate in safeguarding awareness and training programs
Requirements
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development, or related fields
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in community-based development projects
Required Skills:
- Strong community facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience working with NGOs and community-based institutions (CBOs)
- Knowledge of participatory approaches such as PFM and watershed management
- Good data analysis and report writing skills
- Fluency in Afaan Oromo and good working knowledge of English
- Ability to identify problems and propose practical solutions
- Strong networking and relationship management skills
- Willingness to travel and work in remote or hardship areas
Desirable:
- Understanding of biodiversity conservation and livelihood programs
- Experience in forest community work and institutional development
