Job Purpose:
To enhance sound financial decision-making by developing and implementing financial accounting and reporting systems that provide accurate, timely, and reliable financial information to support management, stakeholders, and regulatory requirements.
Educational Qualifications:
- BA or MA Degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in General Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Accounting Operations.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor the department’s strategic plans, operational plans, and budgets.
- Plan, organize, lead, and control the overall activities of the Finance and Accounting Department.
- Design and implement accounting procedures, systems, and financial controls to improve operational efficiency.
- Review and maintain the general ledger structure, chart of accounts, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Manage journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly financial closing activities.
- Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and books of accounts remain balanced.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Conduct financial statement analysis, variance analysis, and provide recommendations for management decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and facilitate timely completion of audit reports.
- Review and strengthen finance policies, internal controls, accounting systems, and business processes.
- Prepare consolidated financial reports and provide professional financial analysis and recommendations.
- Lead the implementation of new accounting procedures and process improvement initiatives.
- Assess financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Coach, mentor, supervise, and evaluate department staff to improve performance and productivity.
- Ensure authorized signatories, financial approvals, and accounting documentation are properly maintained.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and evaluate their impact on the company's financial reporting.
- Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Financial statement preparation, analysis, and interpretation.
- Budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cost control.
- Tax compliance and statutory reporting.
- General ledger management and account reconciliation.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
