About the Job

People in Need (PIN) is the largest non-profit organization in Central and Eastern Europe, operating in the field of humanitarian and development aid, support for human rights, and social inclusion. Currently, more than 2,400 employees work in our Humanitarian and Development section across 23 countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Contract length: 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

About The Role

The HoF’s line manager is the Compliance Director. At the country programme level, the HoF manages the Accounting Unit Coordinator and Economy Coordinator. The HoF collaborates closely with the Head of Operations, Deputy Country Director, Head of Programmes, and Programme Managers. At headquarters level, the primary counterparts are the Accounting and Finance Coordinators for Ethiopia.

Duties & Responsibilities

General
  • Manage the Finance and Accounting national team, ensuring capacity and continuous development.
  • Ensure systems support the implementation of the Country Strategy with transparency and compliance.
  • Update key support policies as required, adapting to the context.
Finance Management
  • Ensure financial and administrative procedures are in place and respected.
  • Administer finance systems and guarantee financial requirements are met across sectors.
  • Draw and update the overall operational budget and monitor resource allocation.
Accounting
  • Establish sufficient capacities for quality accounting data as per PIN internal rules.
  • Ensure correct tax payments and application for tax exemptions when possible.
  • Supervise inputs for year-end closing procedures and local statutory audits.
Human Resources & Capacity Development
  • Ensure adequate finance team size and manage compliance with HR procedures.
  • Develop team capacity with a focus on the Finance Unit Coordinator.
  • Establish systems for in-country induction for staff regarding finance/compliance procedures.

Main Requirements

  • Education: University or secondary level in business, management, accounting, or similar fields.
  • Experience: Team management and supervision within a complex country programme.
  • Language: Communicative level of English (minimum of active B2).
