Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Health and Nutrition Officer, the Health and Nutrition Assistant is responsible for supporting all start-up nutrition activities in FHI 360 program implementation areas. Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical guidance to ensure program implementation adheres to appropriate international technical standards.
- Conducting anthropometric assessments and linking clients to respective service points.
- Maintaining an environment-friendly working space and adhering to infection control practices.
- Delivering nutrition services, including counseling and preparing treatment for clients.
Accountabilities
- Working closely with the Health and Nutrition Officer to achieve program objectives.
- Collecting and coordinating data needed by nutrition staff.
- Participating in research activities.
- Supporting admissions of severe malnutrition cases.
- Managing case follow-ups for malnutrition patients.
- Counseling in-patients and guardians on proper care and nutrition.
- Conducting home visits for discharged patients.
- Supporting the EPI department with growth monitoring activities.
- Ensuring food supplements are safe and stored properly.
- Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen for therapeutic milk preparation.
- Preparing and submitting nutrition reports as guided.
- Reviewing and verifying information for compliance and accuracy.
- Maintaining records and data using automated systems.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to staff.
- Preparing training materials for field site locations.
- Providing continuous field-based assistance to medical units.
- Assisting in collecting and compiling project data.
- Providing regular updates on inventory of medical items.
- Improving the quality of PHC services delivered.
- Performing any other tasks assigned.
Programmatic Administration
- Supporting travel activities for staff and consultants.
- Assisting in report information collection and draft preparation.
- Maintaining distribution lists for project reports.
- Sending reminders for reporting deadlines.
- Serving as a backup to others at the same level.
- Setting up document management sites.
- Coordinating storage and archiving of files.
Technical Requirements
- Assisting in technical data collection and basic analysis.
- Providing technical support in developing tools and reports.
- Conducting literature searches under supervision.
- Providing administrative support for work plan preparation.
Operational Support (Security, IT, HR, etc.)
- Posting job descriptions.
- Arranging interviews.
- Setting up technology for meetings.
- Troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Updating the list of contacts.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree related to health or nutrition or a Related Field.
Experience:
- Typically requires at least 3 years of relevant administrative experience supporting projects and/or a technical practice area.
- Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred.
- Prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Technology to be Used:
- Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.
