Job Summary:
The Investment Director will lead investment origination, execution, and portfolio management across nature-based investments in emerging markets. The role is responsible for identifying high-impact investment opportunities, structuring complex transactions, managing portfolio performance, building strategic partnerships, and supporting investor engagement. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in fund strategy while mentoring junior investment professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead deal sourcing, origination, and pipeline development across reforestation, blue carbon, sustainable agriculture, and land-use projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project developers, government institutions, and ecosystem partners.
- Evaluate investment opportunities against financial, environmental, and impact objectives.
- Lead end-to-end investment execution, including due diligence, financial modeling, legal review, regulatory analysis, and risk assessment.
- Structure investment transactions and negotiate commercial terms.
- Prepare investment committee papers and present investment recommendations.
- Monitor portfolio performance and ensure investments achieve financial and impact objectives.
- Identify portfolio risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support investee companies with operational improvements and value creation initiatives.
- Develop strategic partnerships with carbon credit buyers, co-investors, research institutions, and technical partners.
- Maintain strong relationships with investors and strategic stakeholders throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Support fundraising activities by providing investment updates and portfolio performance reports.
- Mentor and guide junior investment professionals.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Fund's investment strategy.
Educational Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- CFA or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of investment management experience.
- Proven experience in infrastructure, project finance, private equity, or related investment sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading investments from origination through execution and post-investment management.
- Experience working within emerging markets is required.
Technical Skills:
- Strong financial modeling and project finance expertise.
- Investment analysis, valuation, and due diligence skills.
- Knowledge of environmental and social safeguard assessments.
- Understanding of land tenure, community engagement, and sustainability considerations.
- Knowledge of voluntary carbon markets, MRV processes, carbon methodologies, and carbon credit issuance is an advantage.
- Risk assessment and portfolio management expertise.

- Relationships with carbon credit buyers, project developers, or co-investors are advantageous.
- Additional language proficiency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese is an advantage.
