Junior Cost Officer

Job Summary

The Junior Cost Officer is responsible for supporting cost accounting and financial analysis activities within the organization. The role focuses on tracking costs, assisting in budgeting processes, analyzing cost variances, and ensuring accurate financial data to support decision-making. This position is ideal for entry-level professionals looking to build a career in cost and management accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and maintaining cost records for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Support the preparation of budgets and cost forecasts.
• Analyze cost variances and report findings to senior finance staff.
• Monitor production or operational costs and identify inefficiencies.
• Assist in preparing periodic cost reports (daily, weekly, monthly).
• Support inventory costing and reconciliation processes.
• Maintain accurate financial documentation and records.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather cost-related data.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

Experience:

• 0–2 years of experience in costing, accounting, or finance

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic understanding of costing methods, budgeting, and accounting principles
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
