Job Summary
As the Logistics Manager for East African National Distribution SC , you will be the driving force behind our supply chain operations. This is a strategic role focused on optimizing the entire logistics and dispatch network, as EAND does not own its own fleet. Your primary responsibility is to coordinate and negotiate with external transport providers, particularly National Transport and others, to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of coal. A critical part of your job is to develop and implement a robust strategy for reverse logistics to maximize truck utilization and minimize costs by creating a seamless flow between our cement distribution and coal supply operations. You will be responsible for planning, strategy development, and leading the team to meet and exceed all operational goals.
1. Dispatch & Logistics Operations
- Manage and oversee dispatch operations from Lemi and Dredawa Dispatch Office.
- Ensure end-to-end confirmation and reconciliation with weighbridge records.
- Follow up how the dispatch office is doing clearance of incoming and outgoing trucks to prevent over-dispatch or under-dispatch.
- Ensure dispatch accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with company procedures.
- Monitor coal and cement flows to guarantee timely delivery to customers and plants.
2. Fleet & Transport Coordination
- Coordinate logistics operations by utilizing NT fleet and other external transport providers.
- Live on time update and negotiate competitive transport rates and ensure service reliability.
- Benchmark costs against the market and identify opportunities for savings.
- Ensure compliance of contracted transport providers with safety and regulatory standard
3. Reverse Logistics & Cost Optimization
- Implement reverse logistics strategy to efficiently balance coal inbound and cement outbound flows.
- Minimize empty returns and reduce overall logistics costs.
- Frequent analyze delivery cost-per-ton and recommend improvements.
- Suggest and implement optimized transport routes and business practices for efficiency.
4. Customer & Sales Coordination
- In collaboration with sales and finance team track customer balances (paid, lifted, pending).
- Prevent over-dispatching or under-dispatching beyond allocations.
- Collaborate with Sales & Finance team to ensure dispatch aligns with confirmed customer orders.
- Lead, manage and support dispatch office including customer service staff in providing accurate delivery updates.
5. Data Accuracy & Systems
- Ensure all dispatch operations are captured in the ERP or any other applicable system .
- Guarantee real-time and accurate data entry for weighbridge tickets, transport usage, and dispatch status.
- Prepare regular performance and cost reports for management.
6. Leadership & People Management
- Lead and manage Dispatch Coordinators, Dispatch Officers, and Customer Service staff.
- Build capacity and discipline within the dispatch team.
- Ensure effective teamwork and accountability in daily logistics operations.
7. Compliance & Reporting
- Develop and if it approved Enforce compliance with EAND procedures.
- Closely follow up partners safety during loading, unloading, and transport operations.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on delivery performance, cost, and dispatch accuracy.

Qualification:
- BA in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- MA/MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive logistics experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory/managerial role.
- Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, cement distribution, or transport sector is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of logistics operations, dispatch systems, and warehouse management.
- Understanding of ERPs and other Supply chain related system .
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning ability.
- Knowledge of transport laws, road safety, and government regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operations.
