Manager: Engineering And Maintenance

Job Purpose

The Manager of the Engineering and Maintenance Department is responsible for leading all engineering and maintenance activities across the organization. This includes developing and implementing departmental policies, planning and executing projects, managing technical staff, and ensuring plant operations run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
• Coordinate and direct projects, including planning and integration of technical activities.
• Monitor project progress against schedules and budgets, and allocate resources as needed.
• Oversee staff performance and support continuous improvement and development.
• Provide monthly reports on departmental metrics and KPIs.
• Ensure corrective actions are implemented for quality, production, and process issues.
• Promote and enforce a safe and healthy work environment.
• Meet performance KPIs for mechanical, workshop, and electrical units.
• Plan, design, install, and commission new equipment or production lines.
• Ensure availability of spare parts and maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Minimize plant breakdowns and reduce maintenance costs.
• Improve plant efficiency through innovation and collaboration.
• Ensure machinery is well-maintained with minimal downtime.
• Prepare and manage budgets for engineering projects.
• Supervise technical teams and ensure continuous training.
• Execute project strategies for timely and quality delivery.
• Research and implement innovative engineering solutions.
• Identify training needs and support staff development.
• Provide clear direction to engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and hazard prevention.
• Oversee Food Safety Management System implementation.
• Report and resolve food safety issues and non-conformities.
• Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards.

About You

Basic Qualifications & Attributes

Education

• B.Sc. Degree in Engineering or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
• Certification in Maintenance Programs (e.g., Preventive Maintenance) is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in executing Preventive Maintenance schedules is highly desirable.
