Job Summary
Under the administrative supervision of the MSIE Programs/Senior Program Manager, the Mobile Health and Nutrition Nurse is responsible for delivering Comprehensive Family Planning (CFP), Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC), and Post Abortion Care (PAC) services in accordance with national and MSI guidelines. The role also supports voluntary tubal ligation and vasectomy procedures, provides sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, conducts trainings, coaches mobile health teams, supports postpartum family planning (PPFP), and delivers nutrition screening and services for children and pregnant women.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine clients using standard medical procedures and diagnostic approaches
- Prescribe and administer medications based on medical history, examinations, and laboratory findings
- Provide Comprehensive Family Planning (CFP), Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC), and Post Abortion Care (PAC) services according to national and MSI guidelines
- Assist (scrub) in permanent family planning procedures and related medical procedures following required training
- Screen children under five and pregnant/lactating women for malnutrition using Ministry of Health approved tools
- Provide micronutrient supplementation for children and pregnant women when required
- Refer children requiring additional medical attention to the nearest public health facility
- Maintain client confidentiality and prioritize patient interests at all times
- Maintain high standards of clinical care and proper referral systems
- Report clinical incidents in accordance with MSI Incident Management Policy
- Ensure client records and medical files are updated, organized, and accessible
- Record client information accurately in MSIE electronic health systems such as CLIC+
- Prepare regular reports on activities, progress, and challenges for supervisors
- Participate in training and capacity-building programs as required
- Provide orientation and supervision to community outreach volunteers
- Provide technical guidance to public facilities and Area Program Managers to improve service quality
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by immediate supervisors
Instrument Nurse Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical instruments, medical supplies, and operation sets according to established standards
- Support permanent family planning procedures during operations and prepare instruments for subsequent procedures
- Ensure proper receipt, storage, issuance, and replenishment of surgical instruments and medical supplies
- Monitor stock levels and establish re-order points to maintain adequate inventory
Operation Theatre / Scrub Nurse Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery through washing, shaving, sterilization, positioning, and pre-operative procedures
- Assist surgical teams by preparing instruments, setting up equipment, and supporting surgeons during procedures
- Clean and sterilize operating rooms and medical instruments
- Provide post-procedure counselling and support to clients
- Maintain patient beds and recovery areas
Related Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain high service standards and apply universal precautions to prevent infection transmission
- Account for organizational assets under assigned custody during stock-taking and audits
- Maintain inventory records and manage supplies efficiently
- Prepare and submit periodic operational and clinical reports
- Ensure timely reporting of outreach clinical incidents based on MSI Incident Management Guidelines
- Perform related duties as assigned
Education
- BSc Degree or Diploma in Nursing
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience for BSc holders
- Minimum of 8 years of experience for Diploma holders
